Dr Ourania Mangira holds a PhD in Statistical Seismology from the Geophysics Department, School of Geology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her dissertation, for which she was supported with a scholarship by the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.), is entitled “Stochastic modeling of earthquake generation process in Greece: Applications for seismic hazard assessment”. She holds a BSc in Mathematics and an MSc in Mathematics with a specialization in Statistics and Modeling from the School of Mathematics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

Her research interests are point processes, probability theory, data analysis and stochastic modeling. Dr Mangira has several publications in related peer-reviewed journals, and has participated in successfully completed research projects in the aforementioned areas. She has also participated in numerous conferences and scientific meetings in Greece and abroad; among them, in the International Workshop on Statistical Seismology in Potsdam (Germany) and Hakone (Japan), the International Workshop on Applied Probability IWAP in Toronto (Canada), the International Congress of the Geological Society of Greece in Athens and Thessaloniki and various meetings of the Hellenic Statistical Institute.
