Find and use the Library e-Resources

What e-resources are available?

The Library subscribes to a vast range of high quality digital resources, including e-books, academic journals, newspapers, multimedia and other publications. These resources are essential to your assignments, research and teaching.

Current CITY College students and staff: you can access all of these resources from anywhere with an internet connection.

Tips on how to access library e-resources

  • As a registered student, you should be able to access our vast majority of online databases and journals both on-campus and off-campus.
  • Make sure that you access our e-resources by visiting the Library webpages.
  • Module related resources, items on Syllabi Reading lists, books and dissertations can be found in OpenABEKT Catalogue
  • Usually you will be asked to log in to a specific e-resource by using your Library account credentials (username & password). If you do not know or remember your University username and password or you need help to setup your account refer to the Library Services Desk.
  • If your are experiencing difficulties with your CITY College IT account (allows you to login to computing facilities & internal services) or forgot your password, approach the Computing Support Staff (L. Sofou building, 7th floor) or send an email support@york.citycollege.eu

 


Find the content you need

OpenABEKT Library Catalogue

  • eBook Collection: explore our comprehensive eBook collections and find what has been recently acquired by the library.
  • Trending Now ebook collections: find out what’s trending nowadays, check out our most popular and must read collections.
  • eTextbooks: access the electronic format of the main textbooks used for taught Modules.
  • eRecommended Readings view the list of supplemental readings pertaining to Modules. Grasp the opportunity to further meet course expectations by going through the suggested recommended material of Syllabi.
  • eDissertations: locate the ecopy of dissertations held by students (title, subject, student name)

If an item you found on the Library catalogue does not seem to be available online we may be able to get it for you!

 

Looking for Databases?

Databases are collections of many sources, grouped by type or by subject. For example, we subscribe to various databases that collect together journals, images, newspapers, data or archival material.

Other resources to try

The resources below are general non-subject specific tools which are freely available online.

Google's basic search, is useful for some types of academically relevant literature, e.g. policy documents, blog posts, conference presentations etc.

Even Google has an Advanced Search option! After you've run a search it's under 'Settings'. You can use quote marks "” to search for particular phrases or filter by region, language, date.

Looking for other media (e.g. audio-visual, software, archived books) and more? Try...

 

The fulltext is not available or the item is in print format. What can I do?

In this case, use one the following services:

  • Interlibrary Request Service: when an item you are looking for is not available in fulltext, the library can locate it and send it to you by email.

  • Document Delivery Service: ensures email delivery (articles, book chapters, conference papers) through our photocopying and scanning service or postal items (books or dissertations) by sending an email at the library with full bibliographic details of an item.
