Aiming at putting science at the service of the community, the Psychology Department of CITY College runs a Community Counselling Centre with the mission to provide psychological services to the community.
The Counselling Centre is located at our main campus in Thessaloniki and is open to the public and is equipped with all the necessary tools, which partially help the counsellors to provide appropriate counselling and supervision as set by the professional standards of the relevant professional bodies.
The centre operates with students attending the MA in Counselling Psychology who have completed the theoretical part of their studies, finished their experiential foundation training in the fall semester and have been trained in the eclectic approach (i.e. applying techniques from the main theoretical approaches depending on the client's problem - instead of using one approach for every client and every problem, which during times like this can be too expensive and not efficient). Thus, the centre presents our postgraduate students with an excellent opportunity to gain experience while working under the supervision of well-trained counsellors. Each client can have as many sessions as they wish with a symbolic fee (5€) per person/ per session. All information obtained from clients is treated as confidential.
Everyone who needs either to explore personal issues, modify undesirable behaviors, change unhelpful thinking problems or work on anything else that affects their daily routine negatively, can call at (2310) 22 45 21 or email at counselling@york.citycollege.eu leaving their name and phone number and we will call them back to arrange an initial assessment and if appropriate further appointments.
