An innovative digital tool developed by students of the Computer Science Department of CITY College
We are delighted to introduce ‘PotiZo’ a new digital application of the Municipality of Thessaloniki for tree adoption that was developed by students of our Computer Science Department. With this innovative digital tool citizens of Thessaloniki will have the opportunity to adopt up to three trees in the city and water them regularly. The scope of this project is to promote citizen engagement in Thessaloniki as well as to cultivate the culture of volunteering and respect for public spaces.
Dr Dimitris Dranidis said: "I want to thank all the contributors of the Municipality of Thessaloniki who were involved in the project for their support. And of course, I want to thank and congratulate the creators of the digital application, our students who worked systematically on the development of "PotiZO". Our students are systematically participating in digital projects for organizations”.
“The scope of the "PotiZO" application is to engage citizens in the protection of the environment, especially in the cities, on the occasion of the inclusion of Thessaloniki in the mission of Climate Neutrality plan until 2030”, said Mr. Michael Koupkas, Deputy Mayor for E-Governance at the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
“We want to raise awareness among the citizens of Thessaloniki, motivate them become volunteers and take care of a tree in front of their house or business so that it has receives care for its better and faster growth", said Mr Erotokritos Theotokatos, deputy Mayor of Environment at the Municipality of Thessaloniki.
